GREEN LAKE ASSOCIATION

As Director of Communication for the Green Lake Association—a non-profit dedicated to improving the water quality of Green Lake in Wisconsin—I am telling the story of our lake and the challenges it faces. By communicating our work through mailed publications, digital channels, and press, I’m motivating donors to act while educating our community. I started as a Digital Content Strategist and was promoted to Director of Communication two years later.

SOCIAL MEDIA

The Green Lake Association’s social channels are a crucial way to communicate directly to our community and stakeholders. By utilizing Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn each in different ways to tell our story in a way that aligns with the platform’s purpose and audience, we are able to educate and inspire Green Lake to protect the lake it loves.

WEBSITE

In 2020, I taught myself Wix and redesigned and built the website with the goal of having a simple, clean, maintainable site to tell the story of Green Lake. The new GLA website can be viewed here. In this update, I also switched our domain to .org rather than .com to better higlight the organization’s status as a non-profit.

Luckily, I had started preparation for this work before COVID hit and was able to complete the new website before our annual fundraising event, which was pivotal to our financial success when we unexpectedly had to host a virtual gala.
